Yes this is a trail blog, but concrete is the next best thing. Great weekend of riding and getting in shape for the trail season. We left Saturday morning with hopes for a Wheeling West Virginia concrete stop, but it looked like a bust. Rolled in to skaters 25+ deep on the street course, no BMX'ers to be seen and the big bowl empty besides 1 old school skater. Took some pics and figured we didn't want the hassle and hightailed it to Athen, Ohio. Arrived in Athens around dinner time to a busy street course and empty big bowl area. Perfect. Race track lines for days and that is where stayed. Rode into the evening hours not knowing if it would rain on Sunday. Sunday morning was cold and arrived to an empty park for an hour. Tried lines thru the whole park, but lived in the big section until it started sprinkling hours later. We were tied so we started heading to Cincinatti where we had to be for work Monday morning. The closer we got the warmer and the nicer the weather got. Decided to hit up the Florence Kentucky park since it was only 40 miles from were we were going. Arrived to a concrete skatepark that looked like alittle kids playground. Grommits everywhere just going in circles. Stuck in the bowls. 50+ kids going at a time and running into each other. Not the place 30+ year old trail riders go, but we were there and going to ride, some how. It took a while, but we got the kids cleaned out of the bowl and had a couple hour session with some Binghamton, NY BMX'ers on their way to Cali. As always, Kentucky didn't let us down with the interesting and entertaining people we ran into while riding. No Louisville this trip. Got work done this morning and hauled ass home to crappy, cold weather that we are sick of. Hopefully no speeding tickets are coming in the mail from Ohio.

Brad is continuing to make progress at the trails. Earth moving and tree cutting is going on. I finally made the trek to the trails Sunday for some quick pics. Still alot of snow, but we are in the woods. More daylight in the evenings is definitely helping week digging sessions. All the trail blogs are coming back to life after a long winter. All good.

Let the digging begin

While building roofs in the area have been caving in from the heavy snow loads this winter, the roll-in proves to be a well engineered structure. Penn State taught me well, like my dad would say.
















The start of the trails covered in foot plus deep snow. If there was only some way to stack jumps out of snow and majically convert it to dirt. Stacking would go 10 times quicker.


Let the digging begin. Actually Brad has been at it for over 2 weeks although the woods are still full of snow and the ground is frozen. The pics are from his phone from Feb 13th. Between my travels to Pittsburgh on Tuesday and the State College area today, it seems like we are the only ones in PA with any snow. It hasn't stopped Brad at all. The Buffalo locals even made it down Sunday to help Brad out. Monday morning we had flooding in the area and Brad said it was a treat getting into the trails Monday night. I'm sure he will be out all this upcoming weekend so give him a call and help him out. I'm trying to get over this cold I have had for over 2 1/2 weeks then I will be ready to catch up to Brad on wheel barrows. Expect blog posts to start ramping up and trail digging photos again. Brad got dropped off at the trails last night, in the dark and got 10 wheel barrows in. I don't think it even made it into the 30's yesterday. I know the neighbors think he is insane. Some reason he did not send the normal group text to let everyone know of the digging session.

I suggest we have a competition this year. Brad versus a team of 3 local diggers, excluding me to see who has the most wheel barrows in by the first day of summer. Next visit to the trails I'm taking a calender down and posting it in the tool shed under the roll-in, so people can mark their wheel barrow totals per day.

The winner will get an all expenses paid, week long roadtrip from me consisting of trails and concrete parks. I will give the team 2 extra guys, but it still sounds like I'm taking Brad somewhere fun for a week.

Happy New Years

Happy New Years everyone. Not much to say. Snow sucks. Dirt rocks. Missing the trails like the rest of the Farmboys, but we will get thru this Winter. Some talk about Ray's MTB next weekend, but I need to get my back fixed first. Hopefully the chiropractor is magical next Tuesday and I'm good to go. Dying to ride my bike on anything that resembles trails even if it's not. Too busy with everything, but a 2010 Farmboys Video is in the works. Hopefully before we start digging again.

I found this video last night by accident. I don't know how it got by me 6 months ago, but its a good one. Most of the Farmboys made it there a couple of times between 98 and 00 on road trips to NC. Never saw Doyle ride there, but met some of the Greenville bad asses that where unknown at the time, but top dudes now. Should bring up some good memories from back in the day. Man I sound old.

Done watering for the year.

Not much to say. Got some dirt moved last Saturday and Sunday. Get some more done this weekend. Not looking forward to riding the skatepark, but dieing to ride. Waiting for Anthem II to arrive so we can torture ourselves by not riding trails for another 4 months.

On Saturday Brad and I did some damage at the beginning of Main Line. The large pile of dirt to the left of the 2nd lip in Main Line has been removed and relocated. The 1st landing received what looks like 10+ wheel barrows. The backside of the 2nd landing was stacked up to go another foot higher. The right side of the 2nd lip is being beefed up also before it grows in height.

Sunday Brad hit the trails and got some more work in. He knocked down the 3rd and 4th lip in Main Line so we can rebuild them from scratch with the best dirt we have next year. He also started removing the 5th set in Main Line. We should be there this upcoming weekend so come on out and get your dig on.

End of Riding Season Photos

The trusted roll-in. If you don't have down hill trails then sometimes you need to make the hill. I heard a rumor an elevator is being installed next year for the old farts.









The first landing in Geronimo or is it a berm? Good question. It saw a lot of action this year with new year plans for it to be a daily line. 4th land is stacked with 5th lip about to height. Probably will be Brad's warm up line next year.

The merge point of the Main Line and the Roller Line. The point that separated the men from the boys. Far from effortless coming from the Roller Line into the Main Line. Over winter/spring digging the Main Line will be upgraded in height and length and the Roller line will be re-routed. The Main Line will be better and the Roller Line will be quite a bit different. Its up in the air what the Roller Line will become, but it will be effortless and fun.

The 5th set in the Main Line will be gone next year. It's holding the Main Line back from its true potential to rock and be effortless. Not enough room to make it the size it wants to be with out moving the next 2 sets so it is gone.

The 7th lip in the Main Line. It's 6 foot tall, but looks tiny in this photo. Expect taller and steeper next year along with getting a little closer to the moon.

The 5th set in Geronimo looking from the fire pit. It will be a sender. The area is being gutted and the dirt is be transported to the new lines coming back. Progress is going good in this area.

The trails are probably done for the year. Over night temperatures have been into the 20's all week and the dirt is mushing up like its going thru the freezing cycle.

Aaron and Brad had a night digging session last night. I need to get a coal miners head lamp this weekend so I can join in on the fun. Brad picked up a bad ass one last night at Wal*mart and it works great. Checking out the other trail blogs it doesn't look like we are the only ones doing night digging sessions. Better then sitting in front of the boob tube or riding indoors at the skatepark when the weather is good enough to dig. Get to the trails and get your digging in. Not sure what to dig on, see Brad, Aaron or Joe for construction plans.

Are you ready to dig???

What we have here is the last lip in Main Line. It will shoot you to the moon. The same concept is going to be applied to the 2nd thru 6th lip with the current 5th set being removed from the pack. Landings will be taller and steeper with a goal of more effortless.

Not much going on at the trails during the week. Too dark, too soon and day light savings time ends this weekend so we getting dark another hour early after this Saturday. Weather forecast is crap and the trails are tired. They are ready for a winter nap and the the Main Line's overhaul is getting ready to go into full swing along with continued digging on Geronimo and the new line coming back. If you haven't been around lately to hear the plans, expect major changes next spring for the better. If you want to come put in your two cents, we would welcome everyones ideas. Just make sure you come back to help with the digging.

October Trails Jammin

Going into last weekend Saturday was suppose to be nice and Sunday crappy. Turned out the exact opposite. I got in 2 attempted runs before the rain and my back told me to chill out for the day. The buffalo locals were down and Wilson made it out for some ripping. Did some rehab on my back and did a couple of hours of digging with Brad. The 4th dip and 5th lip is shaping up nice in Geronimo so it can sit over winter. The 5th landing is there from over 12 years ago, but looks to be close to where it needs to be once we build the back up.

Sunday I got to the trails and I thought a jam was going on by the number of cars in the parking area. There was more cars then any jam we have ever had. The woods were packed. The weather was great, the dirt moist, the fire pit roaring and kids having fun on bmx bikes in the woods. The back was feeling good for a while and got some attempts down on the Main Line. Trains were rolling steady most of the day and some youngins dropped in on the roll-in for the first time. Captured some trains on video, but proceeded to tape over most of the PSU trail jam from 2 weeks early. Good job jackass. PSU Jam & Tired Sunday

Everyone had a great time at the PSU Trails Jam on Saturday and rode hard until dark. The trails were the best I have ever seen them and thats going back 15 years. Six Farmboys went on the day trip with Aaron missing out this time. I'm sure he would have been ripping with Brad and Jordan. Unfortunately I took no pics from the jam, but there are enough between the Heathens blog and the PSU Trails blog to satisfy. Dinger got some video late in the day with some good commentary. I haven't watched yet, but heard enough on the way home to keep everyone laughing for most of the 3 hour drive.

Sunday had most everyone tired and sore, with half of us making it to the trails for an easy session. Alot of visitors down from Western New York to get their last sessions in before snow flies. Upcoming weekend looks good, so get to the trails and get your last runs in before it is too late.

Black & White Sunday

I love black & white photos. Here a couple from the past weekend that I liked along with Joe T. trying out Sean's cruiser. Still extremely busy at work, hence the lack of updates. Plans this weekend for a Tahoe load going to the Penn State trails jam on Saturday. Should be fun time.

The trails are dry. Too dry. Can't keep up with watering, but they are riding good. We left the tarps off Sunday with hopes that the coming rain would help more then hurt. We will see what happens.

Blew my rear tire off of my rim for the 2nd weekend in a row. Looks like its time for some new treads for the rear. Only got a handful of warm up runs in before the shot gun sound went off again. I was hoping to get some riding in, but being in the woods today was enough to make me happy.

Leaves are falling and the woods are getting brighter during the day light hours. Some plans in the works to improve the Main Line and hopefully make more effortless. Not till next spring, but plans are forming. Come put your 2 cents in, then make sure you are there to help dig.

A lot of trail jams coming up with the Trailbosses wedding conflicting with the Heathens upcoming event. Snows coming, get to the trails.

Saturday Session

Get to the trails Saturday afternoon and ride. Wait too long and it will be snowing again.

Where you been?

Work, work, work is about it. I haven't been able to get to the trails since my super nose dive to death. Hip and knee are feeling good again and hopefully I can get some riding in soon. If things go according to plan, after another 2 to 3 weeks I will be living at the trails again.

Brad has the new Dirt Bike running smooth and he is loving it. All black and looking sweet. I haven't seen him ride it yet, but I'm hearing good things. 360 variations coming back soon?

Dinger was home for Labor Day weekend and they got some riding in at Farmboys. Trails were acting weird with the winds that were blowing thru and the cold.

Brad made it out to Cleveland to ride Dave's secret trails. Everything sounds good and hopefully they can keep them a secret and avoid the normal Cleveland trail plowing death.

He made it to Meadville on Labor Day for a trail jam and had a great time. Fun trails and cool locals. Hoping to get down there this year.
